A professional title page before the lab report should be added. Should contain the

following:

o Lab title

o Group number

o Name

The introduction for the lab report should contain the following:

o Objective and Significance

This section should explain what data are we collecting and the

significance of this test. DO NOT COPY WHAT IS WRITTEN IN THE

MANNUAL!

Test Procedure

Required Materials and Equipment

- The Required Materials and Equipment should contain the following:

▪ This section should contain each of the ASTM standards that we are

using in lab.

o Explain what are the materials and equipment used and what they do.

The test procedure should contain the following:

o Write down the steps that you took as a lab group. BE CAREFUL of writing

down what is in the book as some of the stens that you may of done may/nRequired Materials and Equipment

The Required Materials and Equipment should contain the following:

o Explain what are the materials and equipment used and what they do.

o Write down the steps that you took as a lab group. BE CAREFUL of writing

- The Conclusion should contain the following:

o Summarize what was completed in lab

o Explain why your data makes sense or doesn't make sense. Give more than

one sentence on why.

Explain WHY we do this test, why this test is important to soil mechanics/

civil engineering

Include graphs and tables where applicable. Include labels with the graphs

and tables. MAKE ALL GRAPHS AND TABLES IN WORD/EXCEL.

The Photo section of the lab report should have photos labeled with a title or

appendix if used in any of the sections above.

- The Appendix section should contain the following:

o Include the Raw data sheets containing your data

o

Include hand calculations for your data.

■ If the calculation is being done in excel, include at last one example

of you hand calculating everything that is being done in excel sheet.
