This article has been written by David Campbell. He has challenged the economistic assumptions about the role of oil in US foreign policy by investigating a cultural site like the SUV and its influence on military politics and strategic wars conducted by the USA (Campbell, 2022).

In this article, there were some thought-provoking points like metaphorically linking the oil wars and militarization with automobile usage in America, the pitfalls of increasing economic dominance of SUV users, and their influence on terror financing, political polarization, and geopolitical warfare. However, I found the tone of the author to be too critical and irrational in some places. For instance, linking the usage of SUVs and increasing demand for petroleum to wars and deterioration of social structures were too critical and needed a balanced view by incorporating pros and cons and then concluding on a suitable geopolitical conclusion. This article, therefore, lacked a balanced view and needed a better analysis of the precariousness of the USA’s existing political scenario (Campbell, 2005).

In conclusion, this article sums up the central role of mobility in American society, the social and political value of oil, and security issues amalgamated with a complex cultural formation and geopolitical tensions.
